Re: So who plans on trying KT-150's in their amps ? ....

hey Joe, did you try the new KT150's in any of your CJ amps? I have had a listen to two of them: LP66S & LP70S. This chap bought these power amps here in Melb and did a replacement from 6550's to the KT120's. Absolutely loved it, and I can certainly confirm that. However, he later tried the KT150's,...

Re: Trying different tubes in MV-52

Yes, no doubt the Mullard EL34- superb tube! These are the tubes CJ uses in their new CAV45 and Classic 120. Excellent depth, tight and fast bass and extraordinary resolution. The bass does not dig deeper then a KT120 or have that comparative midrange slam as a KT120 or KT150, but the midrange magic...

Re: So who plans on trying KT-150's in their amps ? ....

Yes that is correct, and you do make a valid point. Unfortunately, CJ doesn't do this with their EL34 based topology, I don't know why though? Perhaps they want to control the factor of tube replacements and try to direct their valued customers towards them for re-orders. Makes more business sense, ...

Re: New phono.

Oh yes! I forgot you had the Prem350, that big fella will drive anything! The Prem350 is not just pure muscle but also a very high level of musicality with tremendous speed, control and power. On a stat panel, this thing will just take off! It will take your entire system to another level of realism...

Re: ET3 burn in period?

The tube hiss is normal. This is a one slight issue with CJ's tube preamps- that dam hiss! sometimes it's very quiet and sometimes it is quite noticeable on one channel, usually the left. Hence, when I got my CAV45- absolutely zero hiss! mainly because there is no preamp stage in there. Also the inp...

Re: So who plans on trying KT-150's in their amps ? ....

Sorry mate, the CAV50 or CAV45 or any amp that incorporates the EL34 will not take in KT series as a direct replacement. EL34's are more triode based, with very different values at factory settings on voltage and amperage ratings. These are factory set and bias adjusted to match the transformers. Re...

Re: ET3 burn in period?

Thought I'd add my 50cts... Agreed on the burn-in process, 200-300 is good, anything more is actually ideal. Audio Research takes forever, around 600 hrs and still doesn't sound that good. More or less about a year after, it begins to bloom. As with the case with CJ preamps, these are their current ...

Re: New phono.

Hey Jonty, how's it going... Well we had the Melbourne Hifi show last weekend, went off ok, not that great to mention. I had posted a strong review of it on Stereonet (Aussie version of Whats Best Forum) and had apparently upset quite a number of people... so in my good faith, I re-posted an apology...

Re: New phono.

G'day Jonty, sorry for the late reply... I had sent you a private message sometime back explaining what I have in my system now. seems like you didn't receive that message. I thought I'd send you a PM instead just to keep things short and explain why I made these changes. anyway, to summarize: pre a...

Re: LP125SA + tube rolling

Yes, actually I can see why you would miss the overall sound/presence of tube amplification... Infact, I was thinking down the line to try to simplify things, hence the love of the CAV45. That was probably my best purchase so far until... Now with the new Classic 60SE, I getting that tube magic back...

Re: lp66s to lp70s ?

yes mate, definitely! as I mentioned in another post, the LP series takes the performance to another level, and the LP70s is a definite upgrade in performance. you will be surprised at how far above this 70s performs at, even with the 6550 tubes. place in the kt120's and the performance goes up by a...

Re: AMPS

Hey mate, not too sure why no one has bothered to reply... seems like we were too busy enjoying the music! Sorry for the delay but here goes my 50cts: the MV series power amp are very good and have that special "golden glow" in musicality that cj was previously known for. This is also referred to as...

Re: CJ ET5 PREAMP

I may know of a few interested parties in Aus land, which is where I'm located. Where are you located mate? if not here, then no go. We cannot import from third parties and then expect our cj Australian importers/ distributor to look after service, although this is happening over here now... it's ve...

Re: LP125SA + tube rolling

G'day Joe! Just wanted you to know something- on my third visit to my dealer mate to place an order for some M8080 tubes, low and behold in the second demo room there was a system playing some wonderful very lively tunes... I ventured into the room and there for the very first time I got the chance ...

Re: Premier 10/14 vs ET-3

yes, agreed. especially with cj amps pure silver or even silver coated works very well. However, this is very system dependent and must meet your expectations! As a general rule, that I learnt from a very wise old man- 1. use a cable that had the most transparent sound. 2. interconnects that are not...

Re: Premier 10/14 vs ET-3

Although this was a fairly old post as previously stated, my recent experiences with quite a number of combinations with ARC & CJ in relation to pre-power match ups, helped me to learn a few more things along the way... 1. The integrated amplifier- a well designed one will deliver all that is requir...

Re: Sonic Advantage of no Preamp / line-stage

G'day cj fellow enthusiasts; Well the time has come! I just had to make a move- got the Classic 60se and a wonderful PV15. Before I went this route, I tried a few pre's in there. The ET5, ET3se, Classic 2, ARC GSpre and previously the ARC LS28. All of these pre's were extremely good, top quality in ...

Sonic Advantage of no Preamp / line-stage

G'day maties! gents & sheila's... Just hurt my back overdoing things at work, out for the count for few days... On a positive note, and before I could even hardly walk, let alone get out of bed, there was something I wanted to post but just didn't quite have the time, until now! About two weekends a...

Re: LP125SA + tube rolling

Ah! the good old 6N30P- frankly I believe there isn't any substitute with this tube, if I am correct that is... When I had my much beloved ACT2 that uses 4 of these very rare triodes, I searched far and wide for a suitable replacement to find nothing! Then I was informed by CJ HQ- that they were the...

Re: New phono.

Not to worry Jonty, give it plenty of time... It will settle after a while, this change in sound is just typical of new components and they do take time to burn in. Just enjoy the music and the burn in time will run in gradually whiles you are listening. All of a sudden at one point, a sort of veil ...
