Re: McCormack UDP-1 C-J Edition
Thinking of getting a UDP-1. I had the CJ DV2b CD player but the cd mechanism went bad. I brought it to a repair shop to have it fixed but they haven’t been able to get through to CJ about a service manual. I’m guessing it’s just to old and the CD mech are no longer made. I don’t want to get a UDP 1...

Re: Does anyone own the CJ CAV45-S2 Stereo Control Amplifier?
Thanks for the clarification. Yeah, neither the EV1 or premier 15 have variable gain settings. With my current cart I won’t need a SUT, but i see with these phono preamps I will also be searching for a SUT when I get into LOMC cartridges.

Re: Speakers for CAV 45 S2
I have been looking into getting into Zu speakers line for use with a cav45s2. They seem to be a great company also making their stuff in the USA. I haven’t heard any of their speakers yet, but they do offer a trial period. I wonder if anyone here as heard them?

Premier 15?
Surprised I haven’t seen much said about this phono pre. Are they really rare? I know a guy willing to sell me one. It is the series 2 version. Also can’t find a whole lot of info about the s2 version. Anyone know about it?

Re: Does anyone own the CJ CAV45-S2 Stereo Control Amplifier?
Ah, I should of mentioned I use a soundsmith othello for a cartridge. But in the future would like the ability to use a low output MC cart as i get deeper into this hobby. I have been eyeing a EV1 and premier 15. Both have a fixed gain, 47 and 53. I believe I’d need a step up device for use with MC ...

Re: Does anyone own the CJ CAV45-S2 Stereo Control Amplifier?
Just bought a cav45s2. I have a vinyl rig and I’m concerned about the lack of line stage. What do you guys use for phono preamp? Is a step up device necessary? Thanks in advance!

Re: Best MM cartridge for vintage C-J tube preamp
I also use a Denon 103r that I’m very pleased with. I Use the CJ hv1 as a step up into a PF-1. For MM cartridges i was intrigued by soundsmith otello. Never heard them in person, but seem like a great company.

Re: Any plans to add Conrad Johnson gear to your system? ...
Thinking of selling my MV-75 tube amp and move to a 5 channel CJ solid state amp. I wouldn't have to match amps to for the 2 subtowers I have. Would probably save me some bucks too as the MV-75 is probably due for a upgrade/repair. Also going to start transitioning to Kimber cables when I can, think...

Re: Conrad Johnson Synthesis LM-20 specs?
Email sent! Thought I would share for future researchers, I was able to contact David Fokos, the original designer of the CJ Synthesis line of speakers, and he told me the following info: Here, to the best of my recollection are the answers to your questions... Frequency Response - I don't really re...

PV-3 info?
How does this preamp compare to the others in the PV line? From what I gather it was sold as a kit and preassembled and was a budget preamp and was low on features, but retained performance of the other preamps.

Re: Where do you buy your tubes? From Conrad Johnson or ....
I recently scored a CJ preamp, PV-3. The seller told me he had it serviced at the CJ factory and they did a full tube replacement. When I got it I found it odd that each tube came from a different part of the world.. I would have thought they would be matched, but each tube was from a different manu...

History of Sonographe?
I have some Sonographe products. I feel they are excellent bang for the buck. Was wondering the relationship to Conrad Johnson. Are they simply a budget line or were they actually a company that CJ bought like Mccormack? If so where were they based? I know Mccormack was California based until CJ bou...

Very little listed on Hifi Engine. I'd rather not pay 20 bucks on ebay for a magazine cutout either. Anyone know of any sites? Thanks

Re: Convert PV10-al to PV-10-a
I am thinking of Bill Thallmann doing the same thing. How much did it cost in total? Wondering if it's worth just looking for a preamp with phono built in instead.
