Re: The Misic Room: Conrad Johnson ART300 Mono Tube Power Amplifiers
The starts definitely lined up for me that day. Doing a local direct seller to buyer deal with no middleman taking a commission definitely played into my favor. Not risking shipping as well as the direct costs is a big factor as they weight a lot and of course can always be damaged in the shipping p...

Re: The Misic Room: Conrad Johnson ART300 Mono Tube Power Amplifiers
However, definitely a mighty fine opportunity if you're based in the US. These are top notch amplifiers, really top notch! Cheers, RJ The ART 300s are both still $5k too high. This is especially true since our tax refund season is now over and we’re heading toward outdoor activities and vacations. ...

Re: The Misic Room: Conrad Johnson ART300 Mono Tube Power Amplifiers
Oh my. Somebody is going to get really lucky snagging that ART300 at a discounted price. I have never personally bought from TMR but I'm really glad they exist. They offer a nice middle ground between buying local (always the most ideal) vs the cross your fingers and hope you don't get a lemon on th...

Re: Right channel-music,left-white noise. Help!
Shorting plugs "shouldn't" cause any failures but who knows.... I would look inside the unit. If the tubes are hot plating there is a chance you may be able to spot a burned out component.

Re: Right channel-music,left-white noise. Help!
If tubes are ruled out then I would go and check all the fuses. The cover may need to come off. Does the manual say where the fuses are located? Beyond that low hanging fruit I would do a thorough visual inspection looking for any visible damage, ie burn marks, cap swelling, discoloration of compone...

Re: AXpona 2023
There were almost 38,500 "Ultra wealthy" (net worth of over $50 million USD individuals in the US) and this was a statistic from 2017 and I'm sure it's significantly more now). I can see those individuals just telling their contractor to "get me the best stereo money can buy" whe...

Re: AXpona 2023
I'm glad that AXpona was a success. If all those floors were full it shows people have interest. Totally understand not wanting to trek up and down stairs back and forth. Unfortunate that CJ didn't have a presence there,... but I'm not surprised. Jeff doesn't seem to be very big on advertisements an...

Re: AXpona 2023
Thanks for the update. Really interesting to hear. I'm saddened to hear that ML is not putting in the effort. I really like their speakers and as a previous owner I can say that they need to be driven by a good amp and the room needs to be set up properly. You can't just rely on your history in this...

Re: AXpona 2023
Interesting and good to hear about new offerings in the very limited planar speaker market. Those prices are truly "high end" so this is going to be a limited market. I think Martin Logan and Magnepan are still going to own the market as 4 figure speakers I'm sure greatly outsell 5 figures...

Re: Premier 350 - No sounds - Fuse locations?
From the manual: One is the ac power line (mains) fuse. It is located in a fuse holder on the back of the amplifier, near the IEC main power cord receptacle. There are four fuses for the main DC power supplies. These are located on the back of the chassis in fuse holders above and to the right of th...

Re: Another New Member
RJ makes a good point of it being often more difficult to find replacement parts for SS gear which tends to be more complicated and have specialized parts. I had a failure of the front Display on my home theater Onkyo receiver a few years ago. As the display board is custom and the unit was about a ...

Re: Another New Member
Certainly hope so. My PS Audio 200 Cx certainly continues to run perfectly. But my Classe DR-5 is not working (one channel inop). Hoping to find a way to investigate costs and practicality of repair. But it will be for a 2nd system even if it gets repaired. For now, Ive got my front end running thr...

Re: New Member- I am in Love with my Synthesis Speakers
Welcome to CJO. Some cool vintage gear there. I haven't seen a manual for the Synthesis speakers ever pop up. They don't have one listed on the official CJ site either. This may have been before digital authoring of manuals. We have had some discussion about these speakers on here, may want to do a ...

Re: Another New Member
Welcome to CJO. Very nice. Nothing like brining an old system back to life. Hopefully a re-tube is all that is needed for Premier 11. It should pair very well with the maggies. I use a pair of 20.1's myself and I am a big fan of the company. The default wiring for the Premier 11 is 4 ohms so unless ...

Re: I took the plunge and upgraded big time!
Completely agree with RJ here on the maggies. They really need a lot of room. Magnepan says they will play well even in limited spaces but my personal experience with the 20.1's is that to get them to play at their full potential you need to keep them way off the walls. I'm talking 5 ft off the wall...

Re: I took the plunge and upgraded big time!
Congrats on the S3. They look awesome. Lots of design work went into making that speaker. The internal aluminum framework is really something. You will definitely have to give us a review when you get the speakers and have a little play time on them.

Re: Nordost- Making the Connection
All I can say is that it looks outstanding. Very high quality. I think we all grapple with the cost vs performance on accessories like cables. Sounds like you can appreciate the improvement in the audio so I would say it's a win. I've had disappointing results in experimenting in the power cord area...
