Re: Cables for my MF2550

If you are looking for "budget" cables I have had very good experience with Signal Cable and Blue Jeans interconnects.

In the DIY section of this forum, I've posted about making my own interconnects which use the Blue Jeans cable with some locking RCA plugs.

King Crimson - In the Court of the Crimson King!!

Indeed iconic and instantly recognizable. Enjoy the Evolution. Fantastic amp.

Mary Christmas.
It seems like King Crimson is not on any of the music streaming services. One of the last holdouts.... kind of a shame. Great music.

Re: New member from Hong Kong

First, welcome to CJO, it's great to have you with us! I think you may be our first member from Hong Kong. I'm actually planning on spending a week there in April. It's going to be my first time there and I am very excited about seeing such a famous city. As for the schematic, you can download them ...

Re: Repairs and/or modifications to C-J products

My two cents is that if you want to have the flexibility to change power cords, then an IEC plug placement is probably one of the easiest DIY projects. The hardest part is cutting the case for the plug but the plug border typically overlaps a little so if the cut is not perfect you will still be fin...

Re: Correct Phase

Both the PV9 and Evolution 2000 are phase inverting so if the sub is after the amp, you don't have to phase invert it.

Re: Correct Phase

First, welcome to the site. Which CJ preamp are you using? We should make sure that it is phase inverting. Presuming it is we need to know how the sub is connected to the system. If it's via RCA from the preamp as a passthrough, you would need to select 180 phase on the sub (ie phase convert). You a...

Re: What have you been watching?

I've started to look at doing an upgrade to my home theater system in the near future. What has kept me away has been the lack of affordable 4K projectors. I understand that they are releasing some new 4K projector models in the next few months. Although the Epson 5400UB is not "full 4K" I hear that...

Re: ET3 burn in period?

I would also go with Roberto's recommendation of +300 hours of burn-in. When I replaced a single bad tube in my PV12 I noticed a significant improvement in sound after about 50 hours. So you may notice improvement earlier on but you never know as each tube and piece of equipment is different. The "1...

Re: CJ Classic preamp options and help

You can try making the Marantz 7. I think there is some mixed opinion about the sound quality with newer components. I found this thread that you may want to read: http://audiokarma.org/forums/index.php? ... 7c.247031/

You are correct, there is no on/off switch. Just shows you that CJ was ahead of the game with their "plug and play" technology! :)

Re: CJ Classic preamp options and help

Unfortunately, we do not have the classic phono stage schematic in our database so if you wanted to build that from scratch you would need to find the schematic first. In all honesty, it would probably be much easier to get a stand-alone phono preamp (or build one if you are set on doing it yourself).

Re: Premier 17LS buzzing

You can substitute the preamp by using a 3.5mm to RCA connector from you phone. This is rather good method for hunting down ground loop issues as a phone is isolated from the household current so there should be no ground loop issue with a free floating phone providing the input. As for substituting...
