Re: Awards
As an owner of both ARC and CJ there is no question in my mind that the soul of music is captured by CJ. ARC may be a bit more dynamic and detailed, but CJ imaging and midrange is just so spooky real. As for me the new CJ line up is voiced perfect. Detail and bass control is all there and the magic ...

Re: Have GAT/2 and ET5 on hand need advice
Hi Bill, Yes the dynamics, power, and projection do jump out at you. That is still the same difference compared to ET7 IMO. Good luck on the Genelex tubes. When I was using my horns it seemed that all the tubes became noisy in very little time. Only the ECC88 had held for me. In fact I stopped using...

Hi Greg,
I left my tube cages off! Added benefit is it runs the tubes a bit cooler.
Enjoy,
Woofer

Re: New ART 150
Hi Bear, I sold my Duos 2 weeks ago. After 14 years with them I was ready for a change in that system. I am moving to a conventional cone speaker. My next combo is the Harbeth 40.2 Anniversary matched to the ART150 in a near field configuration. The Harbeths have a unique mid range magic and it was ...

Re: New ART 150
Hi Bill, I can only say that the KT150 tube in the CJ ART150 is something that one should go and audition. It is so totally amazing that for me it was a game changer. Not going to bore you with trying to describe what it does. For me and what I was looking for in an amp it was a must have! 150 watts...

Re: Have GAT/2 and ET5 on hand need advice
Hey Big Dog, If you got the means and your system is at the level of the GAT's potential, then the GAT cannot be compared to an ET. Dynamics alone is at a level that just screams at you. It does everything better and it should. Having a single tube for each channel, a larger power supply with the sa...

Re: Have GAT/2 and ET5 on hand need advice
Hi Big Dog, I am using ET7 series 2. My CT5 was not an SE version. I loved my ACT2 series 2. The advantage the ET series provides was a natural path for me to take. Dynamics, noise floor, and bass performance over-road the the ACT and its charms. I did not need the extra warmth and preferred the sou...

Re: Have GAT/2 and ET5 on hand need advice
I had a very different experience. I never warmed up to the CT5 at all. Loved my Act2 Series 2, but not the series 1. Preferred the ET5 to the ACT 2 Mk2, but it was a close call. The ET7 was another level above the ET5. The ET7 series 2 is another step up for the ET7. The GAT or the GAT 2 is another...

Re: Would you buy and ART Series 3 and How Much Should you Pay?
RJ I use the ART150 with the ET7 and it is dead quite on my Avantgarde Duos! I use that 88 tube that CJ is selling. Even with my ear at the speaker only a faint hiss. No tube preamp I have used was this quite.I will add that the ART150 with all that power on horns is not to be over looked. The combin...

Re: Would you buy and ART Series 3 and How Much Should you Pay?
My point on finding noisy tube was that only 1 tube could be the issue on ET7 or ET5. The GAT is the same as each channel only has 1 tube!

Re: Would you buy and ART Series 3 and How Much Should you Pay?
Big Dog sums up the ACT/ART very well. I would like to add that ET5/7 and GAT has improved bass control and improved dynamics IMO. The benefit of a lower noise floor is not to be understated especially when used with high efficiency speakers. The added benefit of dealing with finding the noisy tube ...

Re: Any Harbeth owners here ? ....
How did the Harbeth 40.1 end up working ? I have the SHL5+ and the 40.1 has been on my radar list. I was concerned about reports of bass control being tricky on the .1 version. I know on the 5+ the bass was tighter and did not present the bloat or overhang of the non+ version. I owned them both, so ...

I owned that preamp and my suggestion is to look inside and make sure that the board is suspended. If the board is not floating the issue needs to be addressed.

Re: Advice/opinion desired for CJ Classic 120 vs SE ...
I was a huge fan of the EL34 and own hundreds of new TESLA E34l and EL34s. As my speakers moved from Quad 57 to 63 to just about every type of electrostatic speaker my taste for dynamic impact, speed, and control became more and more of an issue.I have multiple systems, but nothing prepared me for w...

Re: Advice/opinion desired for CJ Classic 120 vs SE ...
If I may chime in? Roberto you hit the nail on the head. EL34 is sweet, warm, and inviting for sure. The choice of which tube is predicated on the speakers to be driven by the amp. IMO your CLXs would benefit from the control, clarity, and dynamics of the KT120. I have amps that use different tubes ...

Re: The CJ ARTsa all an amplifier can be
I liked the ET5 more than than Act2 Series2. I like the ET7 more than the ET5. I guess its all system dependent. I liked all of them more than AR Ref5! CJ just sounds right to me I guess.
Happy listening.
