Thanks. But please don’t be jealous… not worth the energy.
Happy New Year to everyone.

Re: New CJ ART88 Preamp
Well folks, my ART88 just arrived from Virginia via FedEx. The excellent GAT 1 is sitting here on the floor after more than a decade. New, just in the system, the 88 is already everything it’s supposed to be. More detail, way more and better bass, and a stunning amount of clarity. Can’t imagine how ...

Order what?
Fuses? If you get the wrong values in either blow time or rating it will void your warranty. Jeff has mentioned on multiple occasions the number of c-j units that come in for service and it turns out to be a failure caused by one of these half baked after market wonders.

Re: Is CJ still in business?
Actually... on a dedicated line with a 20 amp breaker. The ART27A must have a soft start process as it takes a good bit longer than the GAT to warm up. Unlike the ART 150s, no voltage sag when I turn it on. Had what Jeff thinks was probably a filament arc in one of the KT88s that blew the right chan...

Re: Is CJ still in business?
My ART 150s used to dim the lights a bit when I fired it up. Guess that's the issue with the PSA stuff.

Re: Is CJ still in business?
Glad you had the opportunity to work with Jeff Fischel, he really knows his stuff and has been at c-j behind the scenes for may years assisting Lew and Bill. He has always been their go to guy for problems and service. The depth of his knowledge of c-j products always surprises me. Pleasantly. As yo...

Re: Is CJ still in business?
Hey Big Dog, Updated my info to include the turntable. This site limits the size of the signature, so my regular list would not fit. Yes the GAT/ART27A combo is fantastic, well described in your remarks. Very pleased the ART27A can drive my Wilson’s to ear splitting levels. Had the ART 150S prior an...

Re: Is CJ still in business?
Bottom line... c-j needs customers to deal with dealers for service and issues. That is their current business model. They are not staffed to handle the flood of customer inquiries directly. So if you buy used from another source and expect to deal with them directly for service, technical questions...

Big Dog... why the ? HiFi+ Magazine in Britain.
Anyway, probably will be selling my GAT1 for a reasonable price if anyone is interested. If I can swing an ART88. I'll look for the sales section of this web blog to list it properly.

Re: Nordost - "Making the Connection"
Hey RJ, My rig is: GAT. ART150. Wilson Yvette. Had the TYR 2 which replaced some nice Wireworld silver/copper cables and thought they were fine, much more detail. Complained to my dealer however, that my sound balance lacked a richness that I wanted. The bass stings of a guitar need a warm following...

Re: ART150 Incoming
Hey Ron, Have plenty of WW cables in my system. I always look to them first. Well made, good service and on a performance per cost basis, a fine value. But in a few applications on some kit, some other cable companies have made some unique advances. Enjoy your ART, it's a really special c-j amplifie...

Re: Nordost - "Making the Connection"
Hey RJ, Just recently bought some Tyr 2 SCs to run from an ART 150 to my Yvettes. Excellent, replaced Wireworld Silver Eclipse 7s. According to Nordost, they are equivalent to the Valhalla 1s. Sounds right. The Frey 2 PC is great also if you like the tone pallet. Back to the point of this. There are...

Re: ART150 Incoming
By the way... also have a GAT and the ART 150. Several months now. Best c-j amp yet. Even have less problems with power line hum, maybe because it’s not a monoblock. The only amp I’ve not had to float the ground on. Agree entirely with all your comments on sound quality. Someone mentioned Nordost. U...

Re: Where do you buy your tubes? From Conrad Johnson or ....
Hey Guys, I've had good luck with TubeStore, TubeDepot, and Upscale Audio. Both new and NOS. Just got eight GL KT88s from Music Direct of all places. I do other business with them so went for the discount. Matched and sound good so far... two days. Of course c-j, and you know they check them out.

Re: Hum problem with LP125m SE
Hey Ronen, Much as i dislike it, I've always had to float the grounds on my c-j Amps to eliminate the hum. Both the big SS stereo P350 and the LP140 monos. Of course, mono's are notorious for making these little noisy back currents. I installed a dedicated 20 amp circuit for the total system with it...
