Re: What have you been listening to?
My latest to spin in my player: Floyd - Endless River. As a huge Floyd fan, it's a "must have" item. David Gilmour - Rattle That Lock. Same as above Styx - Paradise Theater on SACD - My all time fav Styx tunes. America - Self Titled SACD. All time classic. Queen - A Kind of Magic. I have t...

Re: Channel Islands Transient MKII dac
I only have 4 down loads from the HDtracks web site. But I see the CD losing ground in popularity. I think if your going to get a dac, go ahead and get a DSD one. Might as well go for broke and get the best.

Channel Islands Transient MKII dac
Yup I now have another dac. I must admit that I'm liking all the newest compact gear coming out lately. The small size and high quality is appealing. I just got it yesterday so I'm still working with it. Initially it would not play anything but 44.1. I had to find out why and after reading an obscur...

Re: NEW !!! CA150 Control Amplifier
That's so sweet looking. You know that initially they will make an affordable model then later release an SE version. I can see this becoming very popular real fast.

For sale: Coda/Legacy line drive pre and amp
Howdy! Today I am selling a used pair of Coda/Legacy products. I am the second owner having bought them last year in the Chicago area. The High Current pre was sent off to Coda in Sept of 2014 for an update which included a new main pot and some unlisted caps were also replaced. Now it does have a r...

Re: McCormack DAC 1
Your right admin. I'm going to leave it alone and I will sell it only if I find something else better that peaks my interest. Axpona is next month here in Chi-town so hopefully I can get a sense of the latest fads.

Re: McCormack DAC 1
Perhaps someone can shed a little light on this: According to McCormack this dac was originally equipped with a Crystal Semiconductor CS8412 chip. But, as it turns out it has a Cirrus CS8414 chip. Now, according to the eBay original listing it was boxed for a decade and has signs of little use. OK f...

Re: ET3 SE Tube Life
Yes I tried the EAT ECC88 (aka 6922). I was not impressed. I take pride in the fact I have decent hearing. But this tube had a sonic ringing tone to it that would not go away. Like a micro-phonic sound that I could hear. Plus it made the music bright and unpleasant overall. The ET3-SE was made with ...

Re: McCormack DAC 1
Today I spoke with the main man himself, Steve McCormack. Nice guy, he knows his gear and what it should be doing. He quoted me a price of well over $2K for a complete upgrade. Well for what it is, that's out of budget. I respectfully told him no thanks. He did however suggest I upgrade the fuse to ...

Re: MCormack DAC 1
Well I guess how it sounds compares to the Oppo is dependent on what you want to hear. The Oppo is great for high res, HDCD, SACD, and video no doubt. That is what it was designed for. This dac doesn't sound as "fuzzy" or laid back as others. By comparison, the Mark Levinson 360S I had was...

McCormack DAC 1
McCormack dac 1.jpg I just recently acquired the McCormack DAC-1 Deluxe Edition. I'm not so sure what makes it a deluxe edition, but it sounds great and looks nice too. This one I obtained for $550 (s/h included). However it came with a BNC connector so I had to buy from Radio Shack a cheap $3 adap...

Re: CJ Power Amp choice - LP66S or Premier11A?
I cannot comment on the Premier11A. I've never heard one or even seen one. As the owner of a LP66S I can tell you that for rock it's good, not great. It's a "romantic" amp as it was said in Stereophile. And they're right. Great for classical and vocals. For classic rock like Floyd, it's go...

Re: ET3 and LP66S
Torus pic.jpg Just another update here. I've obtained a Torus IS-10 power conditioner. I'm flipping through different power cords as well. Even with the new solid state amp, I still have some transformer hum. It's really hard to hear but I can. The next step is to get a dedicated ac line. That's a ...

The new amp has arrived today!!! I suspect that it will need 24-48 hours to readjust to room temp after being in transit for many days.

Re: What brought you to own Conrad Johnson gear ? ...
Well I was looking at some high end gear on a trip to NY when I spied the Sonographe line in 95. Never heard of it. I bought the SC26 pre first and paired it with a Yamaha amp that I brought home from Japan whilst in the USAF. It sounded good, but I learned of the SA250 and eventually bought it. At ...

Re: ET3 and LP66S
Updates: I have on order the new C-J MF2550 solid state amp. I decided not to go with the SE model for two reasons: The extra $2K just isn't there. Also, I doubt where I live in my little listening room that it would make a huge difference. The glowing review on audioaficionado.org of the amp convin...

Car audio systems
Just curious to know what car stereo systems y'all have. Factory or after market? I have a 2014 Buick Verano Premium (turbo) w/ a factory installed 9 speaker Bose. Yeah ok we all know what Bose stands for. But since there was no alternative, it's something I have to deal with. Besides I didn't buy t...
