Re: ET3 burn in period?

Hi Roberto, It sounds like a good formula I often think that people confuse different with better when it actually sounds worse and I think we are all guilty to varying degrees especially when purchasing new equipment you convince yourself it sounds better and is an improvement partly becouse you wa...

Re: ET3 burn in period?

Hola Roberto, That’s true and it can be significant as some audiophiles bear witness too, some people prefer to use the science to demonstrate that cap burn in doesn’t and can’t make any difference on paper, they also tend to be the ones who believe cable also can’t sound different as the science do...

Re: ET3 burn in period?

Yes that’s exactly what they do... good one minute noteably not good at all the next, to a point where you begin to doubt that you heard it sound any good at all... personally I didn’t experience any major difference between my caps in the ET3 bedding in over the Teflon’s in the ET5 they both take a...

Re: ET3 burn in period?

Well that really depends on who your prepared to listen too personally (l now own the ET5) and think yes while it’s better than my old ET3 it is in no way 6.5k better I wouldn’t for instance go from the ET3 Standard to the Se version but if you can get a ET5 at a good price then that would be the wa...

Re: ET3 burn in period?

Hi Jazz, That’s great news and a weight off your mind..... your ET3 will still need time despite not having Teflon Caps (mine was the none Teflon version too) and still took ages, if I’m honest about 3 months it continued open up and get bigger, dropped in the base, opening up more in those frequenc...

Re: ET3 burn in period?

Hi Andrey,
I would suggest when you get your driver back that (as a good will gesture) that seller considers sharing some of the cost depending how much this turns out to be. However as Roberto says at least you can now fix the problem and finally get on to listening to some music...!!

Re: ET3 burn in period?

Yes he will be correct however it can only be damaged in that way through having current and a signal pass through it, the extent of the damage will be obvious when listening to the other driver in your other speaker. Good luck you should get it resolved, Hifi can be a frustrating hobby especially w...

Re: ET3 burn in period?

Hi Jazzz, Well that’s frustrating how did you pay...!! Id be very surprised if the driver would suddenly be defective unless it had taken a huge knock in transit and if so there shoud be evidence of this, with the box very obviously damaged. Did they come in vandersteen boxes...? Also for the drive ...

Re: ET3 burn in period?

Hi Jazz, You’ll find that as your ET3 Settles down your tubes will sound very different at the end of this process. Your tube pecking order will probably be different from what you thought initially So once your ET3 is fully burnt in test all your tubes again as you’ll be surprised as to what you th...

Re: ET3 burn in period?

Hi Jazz, I’d consider not using your new Tesla tube to burn your ET3 in as it will take its toll on it if your full tilt 24/7. Listen to it by all means but it won’t be meaningful until the ET3 is fully performing and you’ll be wasting a good tube. I’d stick your EH back and let that take the hit......

Re: ET3 burn in period?

I agree with Roberto try too establish if it’s a bad tube or not.(the golden lion 6922 is an excellent tube replacement by the way) but I would use a cheap 6922 in your ET3 for the burn in process. It seems that the ET Series of pre amps are hard on tubes If you read other users comments (RJ Big Dog...

Re: ET3 burn in period?

Assuming yours is from new with a new tube EH 6922 then this is normal it bothers some people and not others, if you can’t hear it from your listening position with nothing playing then don’t worry.
Both my ET3 and ET5 had audible hiss when putting your ear next to the drivers.
Hope this helps.

Re: New phono.

Hi Rj. Thanks for the input, I’ve been looking at the ML Classic 9 and your right to think it’s not powered, however this for me would. be a better Choice with my Premier 350SA firstly it has the power to drive the stat and the woofers without any issues that I could think of. So enough power on tap...

Re: ET3 burn in period?

Hi Jazz RJ, You don’t need anything else switched on to burn in your pre amp but your Preamp and Your source, ie. you don’t need your power amp Phono Stage on ect which will help to mitigate RJ concerns, I used the radio on an app and on my iPhone and downloaded burn in tones also and put this throu...

Re: ET3 burn in period?

Yes 24/7 is correct as I said it will Sound very matter of fact vague one dimensional, a wandering stereo image all over to one side then the other. The image will pretty much be flat between the speakers with no depth or width. (I also had a ET3 from new) the frequency exstreams will fill out aroun...
